Environmentally Responsible Dyeing
All Organic Cotton Fabrics and Garments produced in our mills in India conform fully to the Organic Processing Standards currently being developed by the Organic Fiber Council of the U.S. Further, we also follow the requirements of both the ETAD and the Oeko-Tex 100 Standards recognized in Europe.
Bleaching: Our mills use the Hydrogen Peroxide bleaching process for all fabrics and the use of all Chlorine compounds is strictly prohibited.
Dyeing: Our mills use only Low Impact Fiber Reactive dyes on all Organic Cotton fabrics production. These reactive dyes form a strong bond to the cotton fiber.
The technical advantages of reactive dyes are:
| | | High color fixation factor results in excellent colorfastness properties. |
| |
| | | Good color reproducibility and uniformity.
|
| |
| | | Better wash ability aids colorfastness over time.
|
The environmental advantages of reactive dyes are:
| | | Azo, Sulfa and Heavy-metal free. |
| |
| | | Much better quality and reduced quantity of effluent due to high absorption on fiber and lower dye content in effluent.
|
| |
| | | The effluent treatment process is less complex and near total recovery of water for recycling back to the process.
|
Our mills use Low Impact Fiber Reactive dyes supplied by DyeStar of Germany and Ciba-Geigy of Switzerland. Both these suppliers' products are certified to meet the Oeko-Tex Standards and they will provide such certification upon request.
